Therapeutic Strategies in the Stages of COVID-19

150 minutes

This material was presented after clinical experiences during the first 3-month wave of COVID-19 in the USA and the UK. At the time COVID-19 was more severe and also tended to progress in certain stages. Today, with near universal immunity in the population from immunization and/or previous exposure, the presentation is not usually as severe. This material may still give insights into prevention, assessment of risk, therapeutics for respiratory infection, and treatments for various stages of COVID-19 presentation. We will describe risk factors for severe illness, historical research into the materia medica and formulations used by British herbalists during the 1918 influenza pandemic, and daily ongoing review of contemporary case reports from North America and the UK. We will describe an herbal strategy of adapting therapeutics to 5 stages of the illness: Prevention, Infection, "Tipping Point", Inflammation, and Recovery.
