Clinical Training

Our affiliated Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism in Lafayette CO offers on-site beginning, advanced, and clinical training, culminating in an 8-month residency in a public clinic. Certification can be earned in any combination of Fundamentals, Advanced, Clinic, Nutrition, Field Botany, Flower Essences, and Aromatherapy Programs. CSCH also offers workshops and apprenticeships at Elderberry's, their mountain herb farm in Paonia, CO.  This school was originally founded as the NAIMH in the year 2003. It was sold, along with its curriculum, to become the CSCH in 2012. The curriculum has developed and evolved over time, and today this is arguably the premier school for hands-on supervised clinical training in North America. More than 350 clinical herbalists have graduated from the original NAIMH and the current CSCH combined, with a continuity of vitalist philosophy, curriculum, faculty, and training methods. In addition to substantial overlap in curriculum content, the NAIMH and the CSCH share core clinical faculty.

The NAIMH also periodically offers on-site training through seminars in interview skills, clinical skills, and case analysis. Check our Upcoming Events page for more information.

From 2012 through 2015, the NAIMH took students to Nicaragua for primary care clinical training in a rural clinic there. Trips also included botany field work in the Northern cloud forest, Spanish language lessons, and tours and classes by the herbal and organic farming organizations in Nicaragua. These trips are currently on hold due to social and political instability in Nicaragua. You can see a video presentation on our Nicaragua work here.
