Insulin Resistance for the Herbalist

90 Minutes

Hyperinsulinemia secondary to insulin resistance is now viewed as a major contributor to a constellation of illnesses including obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, atherosclerosis, impaired glucose tolerance, and Type II diabetes B collectively labeled the Metabolic Syndrome. By secondary effects, this syndrome can affect clinical depression, liver detoxification, immunity, male or female reproductive dysfunction, adrenal exhaustion, and other disorders. This syndrome of insulin resistance is for the most part a 20th century phenomenon and attempts to treat patients with the underlying disorder using the methods of traditional herbalism or natural medicine from previous eras are likely to fail unless the insulin resistance has been addressed.
