Medical Cannabis and the Therapeutic Order

2 hours

The Therapeutic Order is an expression developed by modern naturopaths to describe the universal truth of giving basic dietary and lifestyle changes first, and milder remedies before strong ones, and to resort to suppressive, harsh, or dangerous methods only as a last resort when indicated by the condition or by a strategy of harm reduction. We describe the order, with examples, and show what place medical cannabis has in its hierarchy of interventions. Cannabis is not curative of any condition but may palliate symptoms. We review Cannabis effects, side effects, and withdrawal effects. For a group of conditions approved for Cannabis use and offer lifestyle and diet changes and milder herbal interventions which may benefit those conditions while also being curative and which may reduce or eliminate the need for Cannabis or other medication.
