Medical Herbalism and the Therapeutic Order

90 minutes

The Therapeutic Order in healing describes a hierarchy of interventions, from the least invasive and most supportive, to more suppressive, or ultimately to surgical interventions. Medical herbalism has applications to offer at each level of this therapeutic order, starting with nutrient dense decoctions to support nutrition, to low doses of herbs that evoke a vital response, to support normal physiological functions, suppression of symptoms, or support for normal healing after surgical intervention. We will demonstrate in a series of case studies the power of working with herbal medicines in the therapeutic order model at each level of this therapeutic order.
