Herbal Therapeutics for the Pain Complex
90 minutes
Pain requires above all treating the whole patient, recognizing patterns not only in the pain presentation, but in the lifestyle, the trauma history, the diet, and examination of the exact cause of the pain. In this lecture we offer a broad approach to the Pain Complex, not just suppressing the pain signal, but also the resulting tension, guarding, fatigue, insomnia, and negative emotional reaction to chronic pain. We describe 15 different herbal actions that may be beneficial in pain. We describe strategies to replace chronic NSAID use with herbal substitutes. We describe formulation strategies and case studies.
