Vitalist Herbalism in the 21st Century
90 minutes
The principles of what we call Vitalism, Nature Cure, or by any other name are perennial and ancient. But their application and requirements may change in different historical conditions. We have a rich legacy of Nature Cure from the 19th and early twentieth centuries in North America, but conditions at least since the 1980s have rendered some of the specific therapeutics in that system inappropriate. In this presentation Paul Bergner presents a model of Vitalism for the 21st century completely expressing all its classical elements and based on applications in a teaching clinic for a decade and a half, taking into consideration the contemporary diet and lifestyle, and the latest advances in the science of Human Pathophysiology. This lecture was delivered to a national gathering of students from Naturopathic Medical colleges in Fall 2011.
