We present an overview of the herbs, formulas, and therapeutic strategies used by Thomsonian herbalists during the nineteenth century. We will discuss Pennyroyal, Beth root, White Pond Lily, Red Raspberry, Partridge Berry, Helonias, Black cohosh, Blue cohosh, Solomon's seal, Cramp Bark, Tansy, Mothers Cordial, Female Strengthening and Female Restorative formulas, and Female powders, and discuss Thomsonian herbal strategies and materia medica for childbirth.
